Affiliate Agreement
Effective: April 17, 2026 · Operator: Lesson of the Day, PBC
This Affiliate Agreement ("Agreement") governs your participation in The Daily Lesson Affiliate Program operated by Lesson of the Day, PBC ("LOTD," "we").
1. Eligibility
Any user with an active subscription (Monthly, Yearly, Family, or Lifetime Legacy) may participate. You do not need to apply. Your affiliate code is automatically generated when you create an account.
2. Your Affiliate Code
Your unique referral URL is thedailylesson.com/r/<code>. You may also share day-specific links (/r/<code>/day/42), class-specific links (/r/<code>/class/<id>), and gift links (/r/<code>/gift). You may request a custom slug once from /you → Earnings.
3. Attribution
First-click wins. Lifetime. Server-side.
When someone clicks your referral link, a referral record is created on our server. If that person later creates an account, they are permanently attributed to you. Attribution cannot be overwritten by subsequent clicks from other referrers. The cookie is a convenience; the server-side graph is the source of truth.
4. Commission

Commission recurs for the life of the referred user's subscription, including upgrades, downgrades, plan changes, and re-subscriptions after lapses.
5. Reversals
If a referred user receives a refund, the corresponding commission is reversed. Your balance cannot go negative — if a reversal would cause a negative balance, it is held against future accruals. Chargebacks and disputes result in immediate commission reversal.
6. Payouts
Two payout methods are available:
- Stripe Connect Express — direct bank transfer in 45+ countries. Minimum payout: $25.
- Cohort donation — redirect your balance to sponsor Band E learners (Tehran, Damascus, Khartoum). Minimum: $1.
You select your payout method in /you → Earnings → Payout method. Your first payout requires method selection.
Payout hold period
All commissions are held for 45 days after accrual before becoming eligible for payout. This protects against chargebacks and refund reversals. Once the 45-day hold clears, you may request payout at any time. Payouts are processed within 5 business days of an eligible request.
Payouts are not available to users in sanctioned jurisdictions (Band E regions). Affiliate attribution still applies — commissions accrue and can be donated to cohort sponsorship.
7. Tax Obligations
- US affiliates: You will receive a 1099-NEC if your annual earnings reach $600. Stripe Connect collects your W-9 during onboarding.
- Non-US affiliates: You must complete a W-8BEN during Stripe Connect onboarding.
- USDC payouts: A 1099-MISC is issued based on USD-equivalent value at the time of each payout.
8. Prohibited Conduct
- Self-referral (referring your own email or household devices)
- Incentivized clicks (paying or bribing people to click your link without genuine intent to learn)
- Misleading advertising or misrepresentation of The Daily Lesson
- Spam, unsolicited bulk messaging, or violation of CAN-SPAM/GDPR
- Cookie stuffing, click fraud, or automated traffic generation
- Creating fake accounts to inflate referral counts
9. Anti-Fraud
Our automated fraud detection system monitors for self-referral, device collision, IP overlap, velocity spikes, abnormal refund rates, and VPN-chain patterns. Detected violations result in commission holds or voids. Holds typically resolve within 48 hours. Persistent fraud results in permanent program removal.
10. Termination
Either party may terminate participation at any time. On termination, your existing commission balance is paid out within 30 days (subject to fraud review). Future commissions on existing referrals cease. Attribution records are retained per our Privacy Policy.
11. Modifications
We may modify commission rates, payout methods, or program terms with 30 days' email notice. Continued participation after the notice period constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of California.
